CONSIGNOR GUIDE

Consignment is the best way to refresh your closet without losing out on the value of your clothes.  Recycle your wardrobe while shopping up to 90% off retail! To consign with Beauty on Budget,  simply create an account, price and tag your items, and drop off your inventory at the BOB event. You’ll receive, at minimum, 45% (for valet taggers - learn more about this at the bottom of the page) and 60% (for regular consignors) on your items that sell (minus a $20 consignment fee) and receive back (or choose to donate) your unsold items for free.  You can earn up to 75% by becoming a BOB Sale Helper.  Check out our "Help" tab for more information.

Sellers pay a small fee ($20) to participate as a consignor in BOB pop-up events. This covers costs like rent, equipment, and labor.  You can earn anywhere from 45-75% on your sold items.

Valet Taggers earn 45% (I do the tagging and transportation for you)

Regular Consignors earn 60-75%

What to Consign

Not every piece of clothing is meant to be resold. BOB holds its sellers to a high standard and only accepts current, gently-used, name brand items that are Season Appropriate.  Please look at our Seasonal Guidelines below!

WHERE TO TO START:
ASK THE 3 C’s:

BEFORE YOU  YOUR TAG  ITEMS, ASK YOURSELF THE 3 C’S: IS IT CUTE? IS IT CLEAN? IS IT CURRENT? IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING ANY OF THOSE ANSWERS, SAVE IT FOR YOUR GARAGE SALE. PLEASE BRING ONLY YOUR BEST.  THIS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE SHOULD FEEL MORE LIKE A TRENDY BOUTIQUE THAN A THRIFT STORE. WE ACCEPT GENTLY USED ITEMS FREE OF STAINS, SMELLS, AND TEARS; THAT ARE CURRENT, QUALITY AND NAME BRAND.

DO BRING:

  • Clothing in new to like-new condition, freshly laundered and on-trend.

  • Clothing should look and smell clean. Anything that smells like cigarette smoke or covered in pet hair will not be accepted.

  • Active Wear: tennis attire, yoga tops, pants, capris, shorts, skirts, jackets

  • NEW/Like New: bathing suits, sports bras and pajama sets

  • Accessories: Handbags, wallets, hats, belts, scarves, shoes and jewelry.

  • Quality: Our shoppers prefer high-end, casual, designer and other boutiques brands.

  • Quantity: Each consignor may bring 100 hanging items.  *If you find you have over 100 “quality hanging items” please email beautyonbudgetsale@gmail.com for an extension on your limit.

DO NOT BRING:

  •   Off trend items

  • Items that show signs of wear:  Any clothing with rips, tears, stains, pilling, fading, shrinkage. Check the soles and toes of shoes to ensure they are clean and free of scuff marks.

  • Specialty items: Bridesmaids, floor-length and wedding dresses. However, we do love cocktail dresses and formal wear.

  • Tangled or mismatched jewelry or watches without working batteries.

  • Out-of-season items:  Summer items, shorts, halters or strappy summer tops and flip flops will not be accepted at our fall sales. Similarly wool, fleece, corduroy pants, turtlenecks and thick wool sweaters will not be accepted at our spring sale.

  • Items deemed to be counterfeit: Clothing must be manufactured by the brand represented on the item.

Price & Tag

BOB sellers take care of their own pricing, unless you are a valet tagger. That means you press, hang, price, and tag your own items and bring them to the venue. Check out our price and tag protocol, as well as our Pricing Guide!

PREP & PRICE:

What  you need:

View Our Pricing Guide
  • Cardstock paper (white)
  • Hole Punch
  • Safety pins
  • Small zip-ties
  • Rubber Bands
  • Hangers (shirt and pant)
  • Packing Tape
  • Optional : Tagging gun

Prep:

  • Make sure all items are clean and free of rips or tears. Anything with strong smoke, foul odor or covered in pet hair will NOT be accepted.
  • Secure all buttons and zippers.
  • Tagging guns can be used in place of safety pins, please only tag in seams or in manufacturer’s tags to prevent holes.

Clothing:

  • Iron all items that may have formed wrinkles or been creased when folded.
  • Make sure all pet hair has been removed or those items will be sent home with you.
  • Hang clothing with hangers facing left like a question mark (?)
  • When hanging SETS be sure to secure both items/hangers together with a rubber band.
  • Use notch hangers for strappy items (tanks & dresses) – no pins please.
  • All bottoms must be hung by the waistband on a pant hanger. DO NOT use safely pins when hanging.

Accessories Prep:

  • Shoes will not be displayed with their box.  They take up too much room. Please do not bring shoe boxes to the sale.
  • Belts, scarves and hats will not require hangers.  They will be displayed on tables or hung on hooks.
  • Match and/or attach jewelry sets together in ziploc baggies.
  • Earrings should be attached to card stock paper and taped on the back to further secure the earrings.

Price to Sell!

  • Consignors with competitive prices earn more money and take less home.  We suggest 50-70% off retail price.
  • Still not sure on the price?  Get feedback on our BOB facebook page
  • Offer your items at ½ OFF the last discount day, by checking the “DISCOUNT” button. Half the money is better than no money!
  • Check out our Pricing Guide below.

Tagging Time:

  • Attach your tag to the right side of each hanging garment. We recommend tags be located through the seam of the garment or through the manufacturers tag to avoid unnecessary holes.
  • Tagging guns can be used in place of safety pins, please only tag in seams or in manufacturer's tags.
  • Tags must be securely attached to shoes with packing tape, zip ties or safety pins. Shoppers will be handling and trying them on. DO NOT tie your shoes together and please do not bring shoe boxes.  We do not have room for them on the sales floor.
  • When tagging high-end handbags (priced > $50), please attach tag with MULTIPLE mini zip ties.
  • Affix tags to other loose accessories using a tagging gun, ribbon or safety pins.
  • Place jewelry in clear baggies and attach tag to inside of bag. Tape top of baggie to secure items.

Drop Off and Pick Up

When you consign at BOB events, you’re responsible for dropping off and picking up your items.  Any items left at the venue after pick up hours will become property of the BOB Sale.  Bookmark those important dates so you don't forget!

DROP OFF/PICK UP

  • Consignors must reserve a “Drop Off” time to drop off their items before the sale.  This can be done in your sellers portal.  Drop Off times get posted about 6 weeks prior to the sale starting.  Drop off times are available the day BEFORE and the day the event starts.
  • Double check that all items are hung and tagged before leaving home. (Grouping like items and sizes together will make the process faster for everyone).
  • Upon arriving, please allow BOB approximately 30 minutes to inspect for stains, holes, missing buttons, etc.  Any unaccepted items will be returned to you at this time.
  • Consignors will be responsible for placing their clothing, jewelry, accessories, handbags and shoes on the sales floor in each specified location. Someone from the BOB team will be available to help direct.

Pick Up (Only for items NOT being DONATED)

  • Consignors who have indicated on their tags that they DO NOT want their items donated, can pick up their unsold merchandise within the designated pick up hours.
  • It will be your responsibility to find your items on the sales floor to collect and take home.
  • All items must be picked up during this time! If you are unable to pick-up during this time, you may make arrangements for a family member or friend to pick them up for you but keep in mind - they are not familiar with your inventory and may not find all your items (since they do not know what they are looking for.)  The BOB Sale is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items.
  • After picking up your items, please check our “Tagless/Damaged” rack for any missing items not sold during the sale.
  • Beauty on Budget will NOT transfer/store consignor merchandise following the sale. Any items not picked up will become property of Beauty on Budget, LLC.

Valet Tagging

Want us to do the work?  This is where valet tagging comes into play.  Valet Tagging is when you drop your items off to me (at my house in Denver), I prep, price and tag your items and take them to the sale.  All you have to do is pick-up your unsold items at the end, OR make it easy and donate them!  Valet taggers earn 45% of their sales and can not earn more by helping.

UPDATED FOR FALL OF 2024

Here are the *NEW* Beauty on Budget Guidelines for Valet Tagging. After reading, if you are interested and believe you fit into these criteria please let me know and we will reserve your spot! Your spot is ONLY reserved after you have paid both the $20 Registration Fee and $25 for your first 100 items.

1.) PRICE INCREASE: Valet taggers have a $20 Registration Fee + $25 per 100 item Valet Tagging Fee. I will determine if your items meet quality guidelines to allow more than 100 consigned items. If accepted, each additional 100 items will cost $25. This includes hangers, printing, cardstock and transportation to the event.

2.) Baseline Brands Accepted: Banana Republic, J Crew, Ann Taylor, Department Store, Boutique & Designer Brands. Brands of lower quality than the above mentioned labels will not be accepted.

3.) TWO people can no longer sign in under ONE Registration. I have lost a bunch of money for allowing people to do this and will no longer allow it. EACH PERSON must have their own account and pay both the registration fee ($20) and valet tagging fee ($25).

4.) All items must be clean and stain free, nicely folded in a bag or box.

5.) IMPORTANT NOTE: I will no longer be transporting items between sales. I will prepare your items for whatever sale you are participating in first.  You will not need to retag anything, only transfer your tags on the computer. No exceptions.

6.) All items must be dropped off for Shannon at a MINIMUM of 2 weeks out from the start of the sale. It is YOUR responsibility to schedule a drop-off with Shannon

I only accept 25 valet taggers so if this is something you are interested in, please reach out QUICKLY when registration opens by emailing beautyonbudgetsale@gmail.com
